Lady with conch

Lady with conch - by 2B pencil and charcoal.

Based on Indian Festival Navratri theme. A conch blowing by Bengali lady during Durga pooja.

Navaratri is a festival dedicated to the worship of the Hindu deity Durga. The word Navaratri means 'nine nights' in Sanskrit, nava meaning nine and ratri meaning nights. During these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Devi are worshiped.

GULZAR

Sampooran Singh Kalra, known popularly by his pen name Gulzar, is an Indian poet, lyricist and film director.
Gulzar also wrote poetry, dialogues and scripts. He was awarded PadmaBhushan, the third-highest civilian award in India, the Sahitya Academy Award and the Dadsaheb Falke Award — the highest award in Indian cinema. He has won several Indian National Film Awards, 20 Filmfare Awards, one Academy Award and one Grammy Award.

She is regarded as one of the most influential personalities of Hindi movies. She is also considered to be one of the most beautiful actresses to have worked in the industry.

This was the first portrait with charcoal pencil and i am quite satisfied with the result. Charcoal improved the look of portrait with its non-shining darkness.
